As a small family business, Claudsgate Wildlife Cameras, have enjoyed a lifelong interest in the natural world.
Based in the South East of England our interest has taken us beyond our local boundaries and onto the plains of Africa and
into the forests of Asia. We have always had two questions in our minds.
into the forests of Asia. We have always had two questions in our minds.
"What else is out there?" and "What comes along when we're not there?"
In our search for the answers we started to experiment with closed circuit security cameras for day and night photography.
The cameras proved to be expensive, unreliable and far too fragile to be regularly moved around the countryside. Requiring
connection to a computer, VCR or even a camcorder it seemed there were cables everywhere and the 12v battery required to
power them was awkward to carry and difficult to conceal. With out constant monitoring and with no way to trigger the
camcorder in the field we had to leave it running in the hope that a creature would "Wander by" before the recording tape run out.

We needed a small inexpensive, weatherproof, fully automatic camera that would work unattended. We had decided
on infrared, without flash, we did not want to be invasive only to observe wildlife. Over a period of time we bought a number
of such cameras only to find, poor picture quality, low detection range, low LED range & trigger times so slow that any animal
was long gone by the time the camera took the picture.

After testing & rejecting so many cameras with further research we at last found a camera that not only met our criteria,
but was also self switching, colour by day, black-white at night, under £200 & the fastest trigger time in it's price range and
faster than some cameras costing twice as much!

The camera and resulting videos and photographs created a great deal of interest leading to the establishment of
